I first came to Australia from Ireland in August 1999. I worked
for term 4 at Morley Senior High before applying for a few positions
in a number of schools and was lucky enough to be accepted at St Norbert
College in 2000. I stayed at St Norbert College
for 4 years as Mathematics Teacher and in that time I was also acting
Head of House for Premontre and Xanten on different occasions.
My husband and I returned to Ireland in 2003 for a number of months
and we decided it wasn’t the best decision so we then came back to
Australia where I returned to St Norbert College. I then became Head of
House for Magdeburg for a number of fantastic
years. I had a baby boy Kevin in 2005 and again another boy Seamus in
2006 so Ireland was calling me once again. We returned to Ireland in
2007 and this time stayed for 5 years. Our daughter Nichola Rose was
born there.
But being the "Boomerang family” that we are, we returned to
Australia in the middle of 2012 following an economic downturn in
Ireland to find a vacancy once again at St Norbert College. I got a
position as Mathematics Teachers and became head of Mathematics
within 6 months.
I’ve always felt very honoured to be a part of this wonderful
community and whilst I can’t promise we won’t leave again, I can
promise I will always feel drawn to this beautiful college and it’s
community.
